UZ postpones graduation protesters' hearing after witnesses fail to show up
University of Zimbabwe (UZ) authorities were on Wednesday forced to postpone the disciplinary hearing of five students who staged a protest during a graduation ceremony last month, after they failed to locate witnesses.
The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights’ Denford Halimani, Wednesday, said no witnesses pitched up for the hearing at UZ. Speaking to NewZimbabwe.com he said,
The disciplinary proceedings were postponed to 25 October 2016 ostensibly because the UZ witnesses were not available to testify against the students as they were attending criminal court proceedings as witnesses.
