Mujuru agrees to compensate white farmer

Former Vice President, Joice Mujuru, on Thursday met with the owner of her Beatrice farm, Guy Watson Smith, in London and pledged to compensate him for the land he lost to her late husband, Solomon Mujuru.

Jealousy Mawarire, the ZimPF national spokesperson, confirmed Mujuru’s meeting with Smith on his Facebook page,

The issue is about the symbolism. Even if she pays from her coffers, the message she is sending is that a Zimbabwe People First government will deal with the issue of compensation and ensure security of tenure.

Finance minister Patrick Chinamasa recently said goverment was sourcing funds to compensate the farmers.

Meanwhile, Mujuru, in her address at London think-tank Chatham House, yesterday reportedly touched on the economy, constitutionalism and governance issues in both Zanu PF and her party.
